Italian New Year's Eve Culinary Traditions

Hi everyone, I wanted to share with you some culinary traditions :fork_and_knife: of the Italian New Year:
-Eating Lentils
Eating lentils on New Year’s Eve means to propitiate a year full of wealth and abundance.
The tradition probably stems from the fact that lentils have a shape similar to small coins and also have a great nutritional power.
Lentils are often accompanied by cotechino (pork sausage) or zampone (pig’s trotter), always because this type of meat is fatty and “rich” and by association of ideas it recalls wealth, hoped for the new year to come.
-Eating Pomegranate
Pomegranate is a symbol of fidelity and fecundity.
Eating it together with one’s partner promises a year full of propserity and devotion.

Happy New Year’s eve!
