In Portuguese language the letter X can have five sounds:
** The Letter X can have the sound /z/ as in Exame, Exaltar or Exército;**
** The Letter X can have the sound /s/ similar to the digit “ss” as in Aproximar, Máximo or Próximo;**
** The Letter X can have the sound “eis” as in Exterior, Explorar or Texto;**
** The Letter X can have the sound “cs” as in Reflexo, Taxi or Toxina;**
** The Letter X can have the digit “ch” sound as in Baixo, Caixa ou Xarope.**
In some words the sound of the letter X is represented by the “ch” digit (as in Concha, Mancha ou Lanche). At the beginning of words with an “eis” sound, the letter E is always written before the letter X (as in Exclamar, Extenso ou Extraordinário).
In Portuguese, a single letter may not be just a letter!
